The method

A structured way to bring the nervous system down.

INTERVAL is a six-phase protocol built to guide your body out of a stress state and into genuine recovery — deliberately, in a fixed order, over two hours.

Virginia Parmentola — physiotherapist with a background in neuroscience research. She built the method around how the body actually shifts out of sympathetic overdrive.

Why it works

Rest alone doesn't reset you.

What shifts the body is deliberate activation of the parasympathetic system — the vagus nerve, the body's main conductor of calm.

Modern life keeps most of us in sympathetic dominance — the state of alertness and low-grade threat known as fight-or-flight. Held long enough, it quietly wears on sleep, digestion, and emotional regulation.

The research on vagal regulation is what the method is built on: breath, slow movement and sustained touch are the levers it uses to signal safety to the body, so it can finally stand down. INTERVAL applies them in sequence — it doesn't claim to measure them.

Grounded in research

The science it's built on.

Each part of INTERVAL is chosen for its documented role in the literature on autonomic and vagal regulation. The method doesn't run trials of its own — it applies, in a deliberate order, what the research already supports.

Breathwork

Structured breathing to slow the heart and cue the parasympathetic system.

Conscious movement

Slow, low-intensity movement through the body's main stress-holding areas.

Manual therapy

Individual hands-on work — sustained, targeted touch to release held tension.

Sensory restoration

A calm, controlled sensory environment that lets the system settle.

Interoceptive attention

Guided inward attention that builds awareness of the body's own signals.

Every session

Prepared for you, each time.

Before each session, every participant fills in a short personal intake — medical history, physical conditions, how you're doing. Where something needs adapting, it's adapted. The structure of the method stays intact.

This isn't a group class where you disappear into the room. Each person is attended to individually — that's what the hands-on phase depends on.
